GARGANO

The land of Gargano.. Land of nature, of sea, of belief! A rocky spur characterized by karst.
The Gargano is a treasure trove of historical, natural and artistic resources. If you pass by marvelous coasts you can admire the difference of color that the nature offers. Moreover you can visit the renowned National Park with its large range of animal and plant species!
You can follow the paths of pilgrims of the past, and remember them on this same route, when they, from Santiago de Compostela, walked to reach the Holy Land or the Holy Sepulchre, crossing Rome!

VIESTE

Vieste is an important turistic center of Gargano, it is one of oldest town of Daunia. The historians saied that it's the ancient “Apeneste” (but the archaeologists were found many remains of another city: “Merinum”) and they trace the first building at the roman period, when for honour of goddes “Vesta” the town took  the title of “Vieste”.
In the hightest part of town there's the Castle that was edificated in the Norman-Swabian period, but perhaps more ancient of that age. Near the Castle we can admire the Cathedral, one of oldest example of Apulia's architecture  of XI century. In the heart of storic center we can see the “Chianca Amara”, a place stained by blood, because, the popular tradition, wants that in the 1554 there was a slaughter of Dragut Rais (admiral of the ottoman fleet of Maometto II) of many people (old and invalid)

Tremiti Islands

The Tremiti Islands' archipelago is a protected marine reserve of  Gargano Natural Park. The main islands that compose this archipelago are: San Nicola, San Domino and Capraia. The underwater are full of colors and wondrous creatures. We recommend you to visit them!!!

Umbra Forest

The Forest preserves his majesty and variety with a large variety species of flora and fauna. The origins of the Forest name are not clear... Perhaps the name "Umbra" derived from "Umbri", an ancient celtic people who lived in the forest, stealing and sacking the pastors; another simple explanation is that the name of the forest comes from its characteristic darkness (in fact "shadow" in italian language is "ombra"). There are many kind of excursion to visit this splendid place!!!
